traveling outside of the country & how it changed me.

September 15, 2006

Yes, I have traveled outside of the country several times, but the trip that changed me the most was when I traveled to Jamaica.  We flew into this tiny airport which wasn’t air conditioned, it was very run down, and unorganized.  After leaving the airport we had to take a 2 hour bus ride to our resort. The bus ride was crazy, the driver was constantly cutting in and out of traffic, and  driving at a fast speed. Throughout the whole bus ride, you would see long strips of shacks on the side of the road, made of tin and other materials. There were also many naked men, women, and children walking down the street.  This changed me because seeing this made me become a lot more greatfull for the things that I have.

I would go to Africa during the present time because I would like to expierence a different way of living without everything being handed to me, and without being alble to use all of the modern technology such as computers, cell phones, ipods, cars, ect.  Even though I would hate not   having all of these things, I think it would be important to see how other people my age live, and view life without modern things.
