Why do you think the people in that time would belive in mythical monsters like dragons or other things?

I would go to Salem, Massachusetts during the Salem witch trials. I have always been curious about then and i would like to see how they would live with the suspision of witches.And it would be cool to see how they would put a witch to trail or test her ‘powers’. i dont know its allways been an intrest of mine.
